La Plata has updated its financial system, and is now pleased to offer utility customers the option of paying their bills using a credit card (VISA, MasterCard or Discover) or by authorizing the Town to automatically draft their payment from an account they designate each quarter.
Credit card payments can be made on-line, in-person at the Town Hall, and over the phone.
To make payments on-line customers must set-up an account at the Town's on-line services portal - https://www.municipalonlinepayments.com/laplatamd. Customers will need their account number, and last payment amount to set up their on-line account. Customers that opt to pay their bills using a credit card on-line will be assessed a 2.5% convenience fee to help cover the costs associated with providing this service.
Utility customers may use the option of authorizing the Town to withdraw the amount the customer owes from a bank account that they designate, each quarter, just before the due date. To utilize this payment option, the customer must fill out an authorization form and return it to the Town Hall, in person at least two weeks before the end of the quarter. The ACH Authorization Form is available at Town Hall or on-line at the link in this sentence.
