Do I Need a "Stamp" From a Design Professional?
The Town of La Plata requires a drawing to be stamped by a design professional when applying for new residential construction and all commercial projects.
Commercial Business License
As per Town Code Section 128-1, no commercial business may operate in the Town of La Plata without first obtaining a proper license or permit from the Charles County Clerk of Courts or other authority which has jurisdiction over the type of business involved.
When submitting an application for Occupancy and Compliance, a copy of a license to operate a business in the state of Maryland must be attached. If the business does not require a license, please provide documentation certifying that the business does not require a license from the Charles County Clerk of Courts of other authority which has jurisdiction over the type of business.

Building Code
On August 11, 2021 the Town will be under the 2018 Building Codes! View the new Code Amendments.
